Tomahawk, WI 05/02/2014 (Basicsmedia) – An $18.7 million expansion at the  3M Co (NYSE:MMM) plant in Nevada is expected to create twenty-two new jobs, as stated by the company on April 22.

The Pride Of Missouri

Todd Cantrell, the plant manager, spoke in a meeting with employees about how they had they had started forty-three years ago as a small manufacturer and were presently the largest 3M plant in the state of Missouri, besides being one of the biggest of all of 3M’s manufacturing plants.

Governor Jay Nixon, who was available for comment during the announcement about the expansion, stated that it’s another example of how the workforce in Missouri can deliver.

He added that they could have installed this new line at any location in the world, yet they chose to do so right here because they know what Missouri’s workforce can deliver.

Nixon further stated that the expansion is proof that Missouri’s economy continues to make a comeback following the recession of 2009.

To help 3M Co (NYSE:MMM) with the project, the Missouri Department of Economic Development came up with a bundle of economic incentives that the organization could be eligible for if it meets certain investment and job creation-related criterion. The city of Nevada joined hands with 3M to assist with making the expansion possible.

Community Involvement

Cantrell mentioned that the company is the process of investing in a cutting-edge adhesive for the graphic film sector. The Missouri plant focuses on manufacturing promotional signs and commercial graphics for tractor-trailer setups and buildings.

The plant presently has 639 people employed, while 3M employs a total of 1,259 workers across the state.

Cantrell mentioned that their continued investment-based relationship with the Nevada community would eventually create further job opportunities as they increase the production capacity of their existing facility.

Nixon recently praised 3M for taking part in the Show-Me Heroes program, which encourages companies to employ veterans, with a particular emphasis on those from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. 3M Co (NYSE:MMM) has hired seventeen veterans since the program’s inception in 2010, earning 3M the Flag of Freedom award from Nevada.
