Tomahawk, WI 03/25/2014 (Basicsmedia) – San Jose based US IT giant Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) recently unveiled an ambitious plan to erect world’s largest global Intercloud in association with several other well reputed partners.

The global Intercloud, being architected by the company is aimed to achieve the Internet of Everything (IoT) goal. The system comes with a distributed network and its security architecture has been developed for high-value application workloads. Other important features of the network are real-time analytics, “nearly unlimited” scalability and being fully compliant to data sovereignty regulations in several regions.

The Billion Dollar Concept 

As per the plans of Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO), it intends to put in more than $1 billion in the next couple of years to expand its cloud based operations. The company is developing a business model which is partner-centric and provides an excellent opportunity to harness the capabilities and investments of the associated partners. The company is also hitching its plans of generating additional investment that will enable it to extend the scale and breadth of CISCO services, on successful completion of this project.

The Intercloud network which has been christened as OpenStack, is designed to enable the organizations and users to easily combine and move workloads. Users can move data and applications through different public or private clouds as and when required. The system is highly secured and in complaint with associated network and security policies. The main framework of this system is based on Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI). It is a handy application in optimizing performance and helps immensely to roll out new services at a faster clip.

The Opportunity is as High as $19 Trillion

The Intercloud network, which is being hyped by Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) as the “Internet of things”, is expected to emerge as $19 trillion market in the course of next 10 years in terms of technology and services offered for connecting the devices across the platforms. This new venture will give Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) a better tool to ward off the challenges posed by other cloud companies including Amazon.
