Tomahawk, WI 11/28/2013 (BasicsMedia) – Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is hoping that it would be able to hit the trillion dollar mark in market capitalization ahead of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). At $355.17 billion, the Internet search engine giant is still trailing Apple by nearly a billion dollar in this column. However, innovation-wise, the Mountain View company is not trailing many people, if it’s not already the industry leader. That Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is an innovation machine is best captured by its latest technology which allows internet users to search the web on its platform by just speaking commands.

The company has unveiled an automate voice internet search which enables completely hands-free access of the web. The tool which is currently called Google Voice Search Hotword is an application that can be used on a laptops and desktops. There is no typing or touching the device, all that the user does is to speak the word “Ok Google” and the tool responds to the voice command and does as instructed. The user speaks the query and the pages open with the results of the relevant searches.

Google Voice Search Hotword is available on Google Chrome browser and is downloaded and installed into the system. This voice command tool is only available in English and can only accessible in the U.S. However, it can be expected that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) would be launching it to the global users any time in the upcoming months. Google Voice Search Hotword not only performs hands-free web searches, it can also be used to site time reminders or timers.

Similar to iOS in the Car

This tool follows in the line of iOS in the Car from Apple which is a hands-free in-car system which allows drivers to make use of the iPhones while driving. The river can access the phone’s contact book, play music, make calls and even download apps all without touching any button, but simply speaking a command.

As for Google’s voice search service, users can perform a wide range of internet search back and forth by simply making voice command which are picked up by the tool and converted to search results which display on the page. The company says that users can minimize battery usage by inactivating it when not in use.

Going hands-free in quickly becoming the in-thing in the digital world where customers are ready to pay a premium for anything that sets them free from some basic obligations.

The next frontier for tech war

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is doing a lot of late in terms of innovations which promise to change the way people access the Internet and how they consume information or acquire knowledge. The while Google Voice Search Hotword has come as surprise, the company is promising Google Glasses which is expected to bring computer closer to the face and make it even smarter than ever imagined.

The war for winning the hearts of consumers looking for the high-end of technology is just shaping up.  Apple just recently acquires an Israeli sensor maker firm PrimeSense in what as seen as its foray into more high-tech devices and more so, the voice commands in operating its smart devices. It remains to be seen who between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) would seriously monetize this technology to give value to their investors.
