FFTomahawk, WI 3/28/2013 (Expedated) – My second favorite day of the week is Thursday. Of course it means we can smell the weekend from here. As I sit and day dream about grilling out and other weekend staples, why don’t you take a look at a couple of our upward movers this morning.

Leading out the morning with a whopping 74% increase in value is Repros Therapeutics Inc. (RPRX). This huge jump is due to recently released good news about the drug developer’s potential low testosterone treatment Androxal. The good part is that the drug met both goals mandated by the Food and Drug Administration in a late-stage trial.

Repros reported that the  initial results from the study showed that more than enough patients taking the drug had total testosterone levels that fell within a normal range at the end of 12 weeks of treatment. The company is studying Androxal, which is taken as an oral capsule, for secondary hypogonadism, a condition in which the testes that don’t produce enough testosterone. The drug blocks the production of the hormone estrogen, which helps the body produce more testosterone.

CEO Joseph Podolski has gone on record as saying; “the drug’s impact on sperm concentration also met FDA thresholds when compared to patients taking a placebo or fake drug.” That’s important because testosterone products that are already approved by the FDA can cause infertility in men and we certainly don’t want that to happen.

During the last month we have been reporting on a number of IPOs and most of them have been rather successful. Today we have another hit on our hands as Pinnacle Foods (PF) IPO debuted today.

So far the stock has gone the right way and climbed over 12% from its opening price and this is somewhat surprising as it was set to be priced at the high end of expectations. If you don’t recognize the name of the company you would certainly know the taste as Pinnacle is the  maker of Vlasic pickles and Birds Eye frozen vegetables.

The packaged foods company was bought out  in 2007 by private-equity giant Blackstone, which will see its ownership percentage drop as a result of the offering.
