Tomahawk, WI 02/21/2014 (BasicsMedia) – Himax Technologies, Inc. (ADR) (NASDAQ:HIMX) is in the right place at the right time and with the right technology. With everything going well for the company, we can expect the company to perform very well in the future.

The Company:

Himax Technologies, Inc. (ADR) (NASDAQ:HIMX) is a fables semiconductor provider in the display engineering, digital camera and processing industry. Its products find use in the smartphone, tablets and digital cameras segments. All the three segments have shown good growth rates in 2013 and are expected to do so in 2014 as well. The company is also an early entrant in the LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) micro-display segment. This is a critical part of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Google Glass. Google Glass has been given to some thousands of users for testing and the company is planning for a commercial release very soon.

Different Segments To Drive Growth:

As Himax Technologies, Inc. (ADR) (NASDAQ:HIMX) is present in three fast growing segments, a weakness in any of the segment can be covered by the balance. The company has managed to reduce its dependence on display drivers for large sized panels. Such panels are used in TVs, computer monitors and laptops. They now account for almost 30% of the revenues, down from 40% for the same period last year. This segment has seen degrowth as demand is shifting from PCs (desktops and laptops) to smartphones and tablets. Small and medium sized panels are used widely in smartphones, tablets and in automotive display applications. Revenues from this segment grew by 15% and now contribute to 52% of its total revenues from 46% in 3Q12.

The non-driver business has registered the highest growth. This business consists of CMOS image sensors used in digital cameras and cameras of smartphones and tablets, LCOS microdisplay solutions, timing controllers and touch panel controllers. This segment registered growth of 30% over 3Q2012.

Though past performance may not indicate future of Himax Technologies, Inc. (ADR) (NASDAQ:HIMX), the segments it is present in are indicate of its strong performance.
