Tomahawk, WI 10/02/2013 (BasicsMedia) – Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is another major U.S. company which enjoys a lot of goodwill from the public. It wasn’t as affected by the financial crisis of 2008 as GM was. What I mean by this is that it didn’t receive money from the U.S government to rescue it the way GM did; therefore, doesn’t have much to worry about in the form of debts, like GM does. In this regard, one can say that this U.S company performed much better than its colleagues both in and outside the car manufacturing industry. How is it working on improving its car manufacturing process?

Ford has opted to use software which makes it easier to simulate the actual car manufacturing process. It expects to use this software to learn how it can improve the whole process and avoid a number of the overheads which it has been incurring. This would not come as too much of a surprise since the company enjoys the distinction of being a pioneer when it comes to modern manufacturing. Several of the systems it has developed in the past, have been aped by other major manufacturers to ease and simplify the process. This software may be the next big thing.

Ford Has Always Been a Pioneer

The world famous assembly line was not invented by Ford, but it is the company which perfected this process by proving to the rest of the world that it can be improved and made more efficient. If this latest system helps F to cut down on expenses, the company will have taken the first step towards embarking on sustained profitability. It perfected the way vehicles were produced around the globe for a large part of the 20th century. It is now set to get into a period where it will perfect the existing automated system used in vehicle manufacture.

At the back of the new system is Ford’s desire to improve and increase its car production levels. There is talk that the world is set to go into a period where the middle class will expand exponentially, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. When this happens, the demand for new cars will skyrocket thus forcing companies such as F to increase their production of new cars for the first time owners. F is already taking the initiative by investing in this system which will increase and reduce the costs of car production, thus enabling it to enjoy better financial returns.

Ford Has Been Using Process Software since 1980s

Ford has always used model process software since the 1980s. This software is used by F to either simulate an entire new process way before it decides to start using it to develop a new product, or to continuously improve the existing processes. In this way the company is always assured of first class production process, which enables it to post better financial results compared to some of its peers in the car making industry. The simulation software helps Ford to test the impact and efficiency of the process before using it in the actual car making process.
