Tomahawk, WI 11/15/2013 (BasicsMedia) –  Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) with $315.90 billion in market cap is the world’s giant software company co-founded by billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates of Melina and Gates Foundation. The company is largely into software, although it’s also making inroads into mobile handset business. The company is just about to seal an acquisition deal valued at $7.5 billion to take over Nokia’s mobile division. The reason the Finnish company is offering its mobile division for sell is that it has been a loss making business for a very long time since Apple and Samsung took charge of the mobile devices business, rolling out high-end smartphones.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is hoping to turnaround this loss making business into a moneymaking unit. The bid amount of $7.5 billion may seem like a lot of money, which it actually is to Nokia. However, this is just an ordinary acquisition cost for the dollar endowed Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). While MSFT earned a bigger percentage of its revenue from PC software and operating system, this market share is diminishing and now the company is focusing on bolstering its fortunes on mobile apps which is very promising as the market responds positively to smartphones.

Cloud service attracts MSFT, but pits it against Amazon

Having seen billion dollar enterprise cloud service business, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is now big in this business and Amazon seems to be trying to dry its well too soon. MSFT offers what can be described as customizable cloud computing service in that clients can choose what to store in the public cloud and what to store in the private cloud. MSFT has an understanding that clients would wish to have less-sensitive data on public cloud and their most –sensitive data on private cloud. So a cloud app that allows an easy switch between the platforms ticks with most cloud service clients. However, Amazon which is challenging MSFT’s position in cloud services has a more restrictive – though wonderful cloud service. Unlike Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Amazon’s service is all-public or nothing. Amazon is promising full cloud packages and those who cannot take it can just leave it. In this environment, a lot of communities and businesses are likely to be turned away from Amazon and this is the constituency which Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) stands to gain.

Why MSFT’s hybrid cloud service approach ticks

Lately, NSA’s surveillance has scarred a lot of people and businesses from anchoring their sensitive data on public cloud where the agency can easily pry on them. By offering a customizable cloud solution, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is proving that it’s not just after the dollar in the industry, but is also concerned about clients’ information security and this is very important in the current market.

Moreover, MSFT’s cloud solution offers unmatched scalability, technical expertise and high standard security, just everything that a sensitive business would be looking for in this era of spying and counter spying by global security agencies. It is my belief that MSFT’s cloud solution is the right one in the prevailing challenges of the IT community and this gives Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) an edge against rival Amazon. Coupled with its big cybercrime center which seeks to dismantle internet menace, MSFT is on the right path to massive revenue growth in the cloud.
