Spains success and dominance at the just concluded Euro 2012 Championships have earned the players more than just the Winners medal, aside from star midfielder Andres Iniesta winning the player of the tournament, it also ensured ten of their players earned a place in the team of the tournament.

The Barcelona midfielder who has become a key player for both country and club started all six games for his country in the Euro Championships. An integral part of the famous 6 man midfield have played in 18 out of 19 last matches for Spain. Incidentally, during Spain’s last outing in the world cup in South Africa, the only game the 28year old was substituted, Spain lost.

Uefa technical director Andy Roxburgh said in a statement; “Picking Iniesta sends a message about creativity, incisive football and humility,”

Ten players from the winning Spain side were selected in the team of the tournament. Portuguese trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Fabio Coentrao and Pepe also made the team. Also Giant Striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the lone star from Swden who made the cut while Manuel Neuer, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil and captain Philipp Lahm were the Germany contigent to make the tournament team.

Buffon, Balotelli, De Rossi and Pirlo  were selected from Italy. England skipper Steven Gerrard was also selected despite his side’s exit in the quarter finals.
