Tomahawk, WI 01/15/2014 (BasicsMedia) –  The one model wonder, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), manages to deliver some good news for its investors, users, suppliers and general public. It has been continuously beating its own expectations as well as market expectations since the last four quarters.

Tesla’s Record Breaking Sales:

Tesla does not have any problems from the demand side, it is still very strong. The issues are from the supply side; it cannot produce sufficient number of cars. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) wants to keep all the manufacturing activities under its control. Secondly, the concept is still new and thirdly, there are no other manufacturers. So, the situation is a throwback of the early days of auto-car manufacturing. Demand was high but production constraints ensured that volumes remained low.

In spite of all these issues Tesla has still managed to get a record-breaking 6,900 units in the market for the fourth quarter. The company had estimated that it could get a number below 6,000 units on the road in this quarter but the production team and the key suppliers delivered a superlative performance to take that number to 6,900 units, the highest in Tesla’s short history. The company has managed to break its own estimates in the last four consecutive quarters.

Key Drivers For Demand:

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) thinks that the two main key drivers for sustained demand are its safety record and performance in winter. The only model of the company, Model S, has been in a number of high speed accidents but there have been no reports of fatality. The model was highlighted recently due to fire breaking out as a result of accidents. The company was so confident that it asked the authorities to probe whether the fire were a result of the car’s manufacturing defects. With more than 200 million miles under its tires from the past six years and in different driving conditions covering 31 countries, safety and performance can stand guaranteed. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded Tesla’s Model S five star ratings in all the subcategories. The Model S has also set a new record for the lowest likelihood of injury to occupants, the driver and the occupants included.

The Model S also performs extremely well on snow and ice due to the precision of its powertrain, in fact the traction is better than gasoline driven cars.
