Tomahawk, WI 07/22/2014 (Basicsmedia) – It’s high time for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to focus on its App Store. It has been one of the most important revenues generating part for the company. It resulted in gross revenue of around $10 billion in year 2013. However, now the App store has turned into a complete mess, and if it continues the company can be on the verge of losing a major part of its revenue.

The problem of restructuring

Apple has failed to bring simple and innovative changes in its App store. The store has got more than 1.2 million apps. Now, the developers and the other users have started complaining about the Apple’s app store. But the problem is making the changes in App store is a big matter. After all, developers get more than $7 billion per year from the App Store. They cannot risk with the application in the app store. And Apple has made it sure that it doesn’t lose its developers that make unbeatable mobile applications. If it happens, it will be in a tougher competition with Android.

Weak Search Functionality

The first main problem with Apple App store is the search process. It is broken in terms of matching the needs of users. The developers cannot find the right user and the users cannot find the right app. Even the email app like Hop cannot be reached out easily on the app store. There is a need to refine the search in terms of context and relevance.

The weak search functionality is clearly visible when the users cannot even find the Slingshot on the App store in one step. The search function just considers the parameter of most downloads without giving importance to what’s in and what’s trending. Apple should focus on the search issue and make it more relevant for the users. Apple should take some lessons from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) who handles 30 trillion-web pages. Apple just has to look after 1.2 million apps.

Personalization and Advertising

Apple should focus on personalization like, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) does. It should opt for personalized recommendations. It should have a featured page that pays attention to the apps of new developers. The highlight should be on fresh and innovative apps.

Apple even failed to make on mobile advertising. It lost many developers that opted for the different platforms to advertise their products. It was fine for big time developers to spend millions on advertising, but the indie developers cannot afford the expensive advertising on the other social media platforms. It’s high time for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to catch up otherwise soon it will be losing a major chunk of developers.
