Tomahawk, WI 05/01/2014 (Basicsmedia) – Ultra Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:UPL) announced earlier in April that William Picquet intended to retire from the company at the end of the month. In relation to his retirement, Ultra’s Board of Directors promoted Brad Johnson to the role of Senior VP, Operations, effective from April 1.

Leaving A Legacy Behind

Picquet had joined Ultra in 2005 as VP andheld several managerial and engineering roles with various production and exploration companies across North America throughout his distinguished career. The wealth of strategic vision and experience he’d acquired, allowed him to effectively supervise all the technical aspects of Ultra Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:UPL)’s operations and engineering. It was stated that Picquet would serve in a non-executive advisory capacity until his effective retirement at the end of April.

Michael D. Watford, Chairman, President and CEO mentioned that they were grateful for the wisdom and leadership Picquet displayed day after day and that he had left an indelible mark upon everyone at Ultra. Having personally known Picquet for almost 25 years, he wanted to thank him personally for his dedicated service and loyalty towards Ultra and wished him well for his retirement.

The New Sheriff In Town

Johnson was employed by Ultra in 2008, in the capacity of the Director of Reservoir Engineering and Planning, prior to being named VP of the same branch in January 2011. He has amassed over nineteen years of industry experience that span across fields like engineering, operations, acquisitions, corporate planning and project management. Before he joined Ultra, he had served in various leadership and engineering roles with the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Johnson possessesa Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas. Incidentally, he is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and happens to be a licensed professional engineer in the states of Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.
