Tomahawk, WI 12/03/2013 (BasicsMedia) – Top executives leave their positions at some of the biggest companies on a regular basis. One thing than all the companies share in common when such a thing happens, is the fact that these news attract a lot of attention, and create too much excitement. This is what transpired when Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) recently announced that its top executive, George Blankenship, was departing the company. This top executive came to Tesla from Apple Inc and is credited with a lot of good things that happened at the company during his tenure.

Why is George Blankenship Leaving Tesla?

The most common question during such events is what led to the departure. People often express shock to departures of top executives because they think it is a pointer to something they know little about, and that is happening at their favorite companies. George Blankenship was in charge of Tesla’s retail operations as well as showroom expansions, and it must be said that he did a splendid job. Now, if it is true that he did a splendid job, then why is he leaving Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), at a time when his services are in great demand, and the company is embarking on new projects?

The decision to leave Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), was made by George Blankenship, and has nothing to do with anything wrong that has happened at the company. Thus far, there is no evidence of whether George Blankenship is in conflict with anyone at Tesla. There is no reason to believe that his departure has to do with any simmering conflict with other top executives or the board. It is improper to believe that George’s departure from Tesla is because he no longer believes in the company’s mission of being the best maker of electric vehicles around the globe.

This top Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) executive says he intends to take an early retirement to spend more time with his family, which has not seen a lot of him. He says he already has four grandchildren and intends to spend a large chunk of his time with them, hence his decision to walk out on Tesla, and not be a part of its top management going forward. Apparently, Blankenship left Tesla a few weeks back, but the company has not yet announced his retirement and made it official. This is what has caused a lot of excitement where people speculate on reasons for his departure.

What Should Tesla Do About Blankenship’s Departure?

In all fairness to Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), the timing of George’s departure could not have been less ideal as it is now. The company is working hard to gain a proper footing in Europe and China, as well as to improve production of its Model S. Tesla also has plans to introduce a new Model X SUV, while it has been struggling to find ways of coming up with its own battery factory and setting up more superstations for recharging purposes. Overall, the departure could have been handled much better by the two concerned parties with, than what has emerged thus far.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) needs to refill the position as quickly as possible. It has to announce the resignation of George as quickly as it can, in order to bring an end  to all the manner of accusations that keep flying around, where people speculate on the different reasons they think were responsible for his departure.
