Northern, WI  3/18/2013 (BasicsMedia)  —  I just finished watching an HBO piece about the Eagles and wonder what will happen when FaceBook (NASDAQ:FB) is pshaw and having a tat is a symbol that you were young and careless you can scroll through stupid FaceBook (Instagram) photos of someone drinking or puking….speckled of course…. with family photos, or pics of land and beauty.  But one thing I can say for sure ..is that..your Social Media History will follow you like a bad Google Rash (NASDAQ:GOOG).

I once worked with an idiot who called himself  a “Social Equity Officer” trying to jump on the social media crazy train (which really is Twitter ,FaceBook and YouTube) bandwagon .  Like many who misunderstand the value of Social Media..they are trends that evolve, extract the kernel of usefulness, and then they move on.  Example – we will use maps for information on our smart phones/tablets which will forever change the fact that men get lost, and will replace it with a blue blinking arrow head arriving at the restaurant/table/address/door on time.

However ..you will likely send photos via the cloud vs upload it to FaceBook or Tweet a pic.  Point is..the things you do now, you will not do later, the chip will be 100x faster and functionality will go to the next level and according to Moore’s law the observation that over the history of computing hardware, the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles approximately every two years.

The law is named after Intel co-founder Gordon E. Moore, who described the trend in his 1965 paper. The paper noted that the number of components in integrated circuits had doubled every year from the invention of the integrated circuit in 1958 until 1965 and predicted that the trend would continue “for at least ten years”. His prediction has proven to be uncannily accurate, in part because the law is now used in the semiconductor industry to guide long-term planning and to set targets for research and development.

Moore’s law describes a driving force of technological and social change in the late 20th and early 21st centuries...(Moores Law) and soon the PC will be a relic, as will all dial-up and most external hard drives.

All I know is that I will not need to remove any tattoo’s or erase a huge FaceBook/ Twitter trail.  All that will remain are sill articles like this !!  Long live Herb Caen.
